| 'Idiot' bidder buys speeding ticket at auction
WELLINGTON.- In a strange example of internet madness, a New Zealander has sold a $NZ130 ($A116) speeding ticket on a local online auction website. Nearly 30,000 people viewed Bob Grieve's ticket on the Trade Me site before Allan Hearn, an insurance assessor from Pukekohe, - by chance the V8 motor racing capital of New Zealand - bought it for $NZ51 ($A45.60). Hearn said he had never had a speeding ticket - a gap in his life that is now filled, The Press of Christchurch reported. "For 50 bucks, who cares?" he said. "I told my missus about it, and she called me an idiot." Grieve, a TV cameraman from Christchurch, posted his photograph holding the ticket on the site and said he had fielded a flurry of amorous comments as well as bids.

PAINTINGS by the most significant contemporary Greek artists will be offered at auction by Evangelos Kapopoulos Auction House of Greece and Nicosias Alpha Gallery at their annual Spring Auction this week. The auction, on Wednesday at the Hilton in Nicosia, will offer upwards of 90 artworks, mostly by living Greek artists, as well as several prominent modern European artists. The selection will also include works by a number of young promising Greek artists. Among the major artists whose works are represented are: Christoforou, Arman, Prassinos, Fassianos, Mytaras, Stephanou, Stathopoulos, Sperantzas, Carras, Valirakis, Pantaleon, Manolides, Droungas, Zouni, Pavlos, Sorongas and Samios. Director of the Alpha Gallery, James Christoforou told the Mail that there would also be a few sculptures and small Plexiglas constructions up for sale.

Fans and supporters alike flocked to the auction from March 25 to April 4 to bid on a dinner with Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed, stars of the hit A&E television series "Gene Simmons Family Jewels" — making it the most watched item on eBay for the duration of the auction.
The auctioned VIP dinner drew over 200,000 unique visitors during the duration of the online auction. The winning bid of $75,100 was placed by Richard Craven of the U.K., who will enjoy a weekend of rock star treatment with three guests in Los Angeles. Google AdWords Preferred Cost Bidding Not Welcomed
Yesterday Google announced a the AdWords blog a new bidding option named preferred cost bidding. Google prepped me the day before for my post at Search Engine Land on this feature. Honestly, after the call I was still not 100% clear on the benefits. What is preferred cost bidding? You select the average price you'd like to pay per click (a preferred CPC bid) or per thousand impressions (a preferred CPM bid). The AdWords system then automatically works to hit this target price. For example, if your analysis shows that a click on your keyword-targeted ad is worth US$0.75 to your business, you can set a preferred CPC bid of US$0.75. The AdWords system will then adjust your bid on individual ad impressions to bring your actual average CPC as close to US$0.75 as possible.
