| Proxibid Breaks Live-Auction Records in March
Proxibid announced it broadcast 350 live auctions during the month of March, a new record for the company, and signed on an unprecedented number of new clients. Proxibid Inc. is a pioneer of live Internet bidding technology with a client list of more than 800 auctioneer house customers. The company said the number of online bidders on Proxibid in March also reached a record high. Proxibid's live bidding service is connected to an auction portal where auction companies can post their catalog for bidders to browse and search. The technology integrates seamlessly with the live auctions, allowing bidders to see, hear and participate in the auctions from the comfort of their home or office via the Internet. Proxibid client Ken Jackson, CAI, of The Auction Marketplace said, "We have realized an additional 40% gross revenue when we conduct live auctions with Proxibid versus revenues realized during a traditional auction." Golfers sought for a good cause
The Alliance for Amesbury is seeking players and corporate sponsors for its annual fund-raising golf tournament, scheduled for June 11 at the Links at Outlook Golf Course, in South Berwick, Maine. Proceeds from the event, which includes lunch, dinner, a silent auction, and a raffle, will benefit the alliance's scholarship fund and projects. This year's silent auction items include a crystal vase designed for the alliance by John Stenson, master cutter for Waterford Crystal. Stenson, a resident of Waterford City, Ireland, has created pieces for the White House and Buckingham Palace and worked on a team that created the huge crystal ball that drops in Times Square on New Year's Eve. He is the brother of Rosemary Werner, executive director of Our Neighbor's Table, a soup kitchen and food pantry in Amesbury.
AOT calls new bidding for duty-free deals
Airports of Thailand Plc (AOT)'s board of directors resolved on Thursday to call a new bidding for operators of duty-free shops at the Suvarnabhumi Airport, indicating an eventual end in its contracts with King Power International. The board also agreed to have all tenants at the airport to negotiate for new contracts with AOT individually. Previously King Power had secured the concession for commercial area management. AOT, which runs the Suvarnabhumi Airport, had nullified its deals with King Power at its previous board meeting, arguing that the company had violated the Public-Private Joint Venture Act.
