Nude Photos Of Kate Moss Go To Auction

LONDON (April 16, 2007) -- Nude photographs of Kate Moss will be sold at an auction in London next month among a series of other pictures of the British supermodel.

The photos will be auctioned May 31, Christie's auctioneers said Monday.

Two nude portraits, a 1996 print by Irving Penn and a 6-by-6-foot square image by Albert Watson, are expected to sell for about $44,000 and $30,000 respectively, the auction house said.

A set of six prints of Moss without makeup, taken by Chuck Close, could sell for up to $40,000, Christie's said.

An unpublished photo, being sold by one of the 33-year-old's friends, is expected to sell for about $12,000. The portrait, taken by photographer Corinne Day in 1990, was shot in London two years after Moss was discovered at a New York airport at age 14.

Italian giants win auction of Yukos assets

Italian energy giants Eni and Enel yesterday won an auction for a group of assets belonging to Yukos, the bankrupt Russian oil behemoth - including a key 20% stake in Gazprom's oil division and the Arcticgaz company.

However, the Italians quickly offered to bolster the Kremlin's control of the energy sector by selling some of its newly-acquired assets to state gas monopoly Gazprom.

It was the first time foreign firms have purchased assets of Yukos at a series of controversial auctions aimed at liquidating the company, which was driven into bankruptcy after it was hit by billions of dollars in back-tax bills.

Scicom bidding for several deals

PETALING JAYA: Business outsourcing firm, Scicom MSC Bhd, is bidding for several deals in South-East Asia and North America, and is also confident of signing new contracts with mobile-phone companies Nokia and Singapore Telecommunications, said research house TA Securities.

The brokerage said in a note the landscape for business process outsourcing was revolving rapidly, and that contact centres were being pressured to provide more value-added services to their customers. These companies would be judged based on the volume of business they do, it added.

With Malaysia becoming costlier to operate in, Scicom has plans to become more sales oriented,'' TA Securities said.

We believe Scicom should remain focused on operating call centres, and its call agents need only make product recommendations for its customers, but need not involve themselves in sales, the note said.

At present, the company is trying to secure a deal with a North American financial institution.

FCMC Dinner Auction Nets $25000

Three hundred people packed the Hustontown Firehall on Saturday, April 14, for dinner and a chance to bid on more than three hundred silent and traditional auction items, all to benefit FCMC’s new facility currently under construction.

Those honored during the evening for their support and commitment over the past five years were Bonnie Mellott-Keefer, Helen Overly, Lyle Reed, Julia Dovey and the Hustontown Firehall and Ladies Auxiliary. Thanks to their efforts as well as everyone who attended the dinner auction each year, over $100,000 has been raised from this event alone for the new building project.

Helping to make this year’s event a success was the addition of a gold sponsor. EMBARQ was the proud sponsor of this year’s auction, giving financial assistance to cover expenses, providing an auction item and supplying 30 door prizes of free phone cards for the lucky winners.
