Junior high paving project planned for summer
At the suggestion of the low bidder, the parking area north of Pontiac Junior High School will be graded and paved this summer, and won't take the two-year process originally proposed.At Thursday's meeting, the board of education accepted two bids from H.J. Eppel & Co. While the work under both bids will be done this summer, District 429 will pay for the work over two fiscal years.Eppel bid $44,240 for the work that had been scheduled for this summer, and $46,591 for the second phase, originally planned for summer 2008. But the company wanted to do both phases this summer, Superintendent Steve Graham told the board Thursday, and was willing to wait for the second payment to be made after July 1, 2008. .
